.RECIPE: nut butter bliss balls. FOOD PROFILE: black sesame.

.NUT BUTTER BLISS BALLS.

Ingredients & Process:

MIX IN A LARGE BOWL: 
3/4 cup large flake rolled oats + 1/2 cup shredded coconut + 1 tbsp ashwaghanda powder (optional)
 
ADD:
1 3/4 cups of nut butter of your choice: Almond is a bit more sweet than the others, pumpkin and tahini are slightly bitter, peanut butter is a bit salty in general!
 
1/3 cup honey + 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
 
MIX WELL. CHILL IN FRIDGE OR FREEZER FOR 10 MINUTES - this will make the mix easier to roll into balls. ONCE CHILLED, REMOVE FROM FRIDGE AND ROLL BETWEEN YOUR PALMS INTO BALLS. DROP EACH BALL INTO A CONTAINER OR DISH OF BLACK SESAME SEEDS AND ROLL UNTIL COVERED. PLACE BALLS ON A PLATE AND PUT BACK IN FREEZER TO CHILL FOR ANOTHER 10 MINUTES.
 
THEN... GOOD LUCK EATING JUST ONE...! 

Black Sesame Seed Specs:

In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), everything in existence has what is called an 'energetic quality'. These qualities keep life in harmony, for example, it is commonly understood that the sun is hot and drying, while lakes are cool and wet, true? Relatively, right? If the sun burns and burns over a lake for days on end without the lake receiving a source of fluid (rain or underground spring) to maintain it's cool and wet nature, the lake will dry up and the whole ecosystem will be impacted. Each aspect of life must maintain a harmony or it will shift, and often it shifts in the way of dysfunction. Another example of energetics in life is in people's personalities. If your nature is hot and spicy, you may butt heads with another hot and spicy natured person - it's just too much heat to handle in most cases! Hence, attracting the opposite nature to sustain a more harmonious interaction. These are the basics broken down and of course there are always exceptions!

In regards to food, understanding these energetics allows us to use food functionally as medicine. Each organ system has different energetics as well of course and require different nutrients and environments to sustain their functioning. Don't quite get it yet? Onto black sesame seeds as promised... THEY ARE BLISS! At least, for me! Here's a quick breakdown of their energetics so you can find ways to stick them in your meal plans if they're fitting for you too! I've also thrown in their micro details just for some extra info :) 

TCM Energetics = Neutral nature - not significantly hot or cold - so it won't throw your organ systems out of balance if you're on one or the other extreme. Slightly moistening,         grounding, and nourishing to the kidney and liver systems, therefore beneficial in cases of weak lower back and knees, fatigue, dry eyes, poor vision, dull headaches at the end of a long day, dry hair, dry skin, and brittle nails<<***BEAUTY BONUS***>>!  
 
REMEMBER: the body is a package deal*** Just as isolating nutrients - calcium in eggshells - doesn't necessarily mean eating eggshells is good for you, just picking out one of the above symptoms does not mean sesame seeds are your thing. Signs and symptoms are part of a package so, if the description of multiple signs and symptoms above describes you, black sesame seeds may be your medicine!
